Last week: June 2 was National Gun Violence Awareness Day. We in Broward County truly understand gun violence and its life altering impact in light of the MSD tragedy. Local elected officials, community leaders and MSD victims’ families have worked hard to make sure change occurred that would prevent future incidents from ever happening again. We cannot limit our attention to one day a year. We need to remain vigilant and educate, engage, impact and advocate every day to raise awareness about the importance of gun safety and the need to address responsible legislation and safety protocols to protect all our residents.
