Looking ahead: In Broward County, transportation issues are increasing with the demand for driving expected to continue to rise. Broward County’s population is growing, causing more strain on our aging infrastructure. In 2003, Miami passed a one-half cent sales tax which has not been successful in alleviating traffic congestion. In fact Miami was recently ranked as having the 10th worst traffic congestion in the world, costing the city $3.6 billion annually. If we don’t address the transportation issue in Broward, that will happen to us. Our cities and county must continue to work together on solutions to keep our traffic flowing smoothly. Read
