Looking Forward: Annually, the Florida League of Cities awards Home Rule Hero Awards to elected and administrative officials who have displayed extraordinary dedication to home rule advocacy. A focus of the Broward League of Cities for many years, the term home rule refers to a city’s ability to address local problems and draft legislation with minimal state interference. On June 20, 2019, several elected officials in Broward County were recognized as Home Rule Heroes. On behalf of the Broward League of Cities, we thank them for their efforts to protect the rights of municipalities across Broward.
