Looking Ahead: Last week Broward County narrowly avoided a direct hit from Hurricane Dorian. Yes, I was relieved but also reminded how important it is to not get complacent. In 2004, Hurricane Wilma caused more damage than originally anticipated and then like now, unified preparation efforts were a key factor in dealing with preparedness and recovery. I’d like to commend all first responders and municipal and County employees for once again preparing our communities and guiding our residents to follow safety protocols. Hurricane season runs until November 30 and we are in the height of storm development – we need to stay prepared.
