Looking Ahead: During the month of February, we recognize the history, achievements, and culture of black America. This month we celebrate Black History and take this opportunity to honor the accomplishments of black Americans. This year’s theme is “African Americans and the Vote,” paying tribute to the 150th anniversary of black men receiving the right to vote and the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage. These are important reminders of the adversities many faced in the evolution of our society. The contributions and history of the black community make Broward County an exciting and culturally diverse place to live, work, and visit.
