Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – The Broward League of Cities awarded the 2018 Samuel S. Goren Presidential Award to Greg Ross, Mayor of the City of Cooper City. It is the highest ranked leadership award given by the League to recognize extraordinary commitment and contribution from an individual to the organization and its members.

The award was presented at the 61st Annual Gala by Sam Goren and Commissioner Dan Daley, outgoing Broward League President. “I am privileged to present the Samuel S. Goren Presidential Award to Greg Ross for his endless commitment to the League and a skill set comprised of respect, knowledge, empathy and belief in the importance of holding office,”
said Commissioner Daley.

Mayor Ross has been the Mayor of the City of Cooper City since 2012. He served as president of the Broward League of Cities in 2016-2017. He is the recipient of the 2018 Home Rule Hero Award for his tireless efforts to advance the League’s legislative agenda and help protect the home rule powers of Florida’s cities during the 2018 legislative session.

Mayor Ross serves as a member of the Broward League of Cities Ethics Task Force and chairs both the Local Issues Committee and the Nominating Committee. He is also a member of the Florida League of Cities Board of Directors and serves on its Urban Administration Legislative Policy Committee.

The Presidential Award was renamed the Samuel S. Goren Award in 2017 to honor Sam Goren’s service to the Broward League as general counsel for more than 30 years.
