Long standing President’s Award renamed for League’s general counsel
Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (June 29, 2017) – The Broward League of Cities has renamed its highest ranked leadership award as the Broward League of Cities Samuel S. Goren Presidential Award. The new name was announced at the League of Cities’ 60th Annual Gala and Installation Dinner.
“It is with great pride and enthusiasm that tonight, we rename the League’s President’s Award and introduce the Broward League of Cities Samuel S. Goren Presidential Award. Sam, through his law firm Goren, Cherof, Doody & Ezrol, has served the League for decades, providing us with leadership, guidance and counsel on legal matters at any hour of the day from any place,” said outgoing Broward League President, Mayor Greg Ross.
President Ross presented the first Samuel S. Goren Presidential Award to Sam Goren with the following acknowledgment. “Sam, we honor and thank you for all you have done for the League, our members and most importantly, our cities. Your knowledge, commitment, professionalism and integrity will serve as benchmarks for future award recipients.”
Sam was the first lawyer from Broward County to receive the Florida Bar Association’s annual award for outstanding practice in local government in 1986. He has served as general counsel to the Broward League of Cities for more than 30 years.
