Apil 28 — Looking Ahead: Of the many legislative conversation points this session, funding for affordable housing has remained toward the forefront. Just last month statistics indicated that the number of Broward households spending more than 30 percent of their income on housing has increased by 16 percent over four years. With 54 percent of Broward’s workers holding low-wage, service industry positions, this number will only increase. As we head into the last weeks of the 2019 legislative session with competing legislative budgets, we must encourage our state and local leaders to protect low-income housing funds, such as the Sadowski Fund.
