Looking Back: Since 2009, the month of October has been recognized as National Cyber Security Awareness Month. A newer observance for a modern age, this program works to educate communities on the importance of keeping cybersecurity software up-to-date, and stresses our shared obligation to protect personal information. The issue of cybersecurity transcends a single month. Municipalities across Broward are implementing new strategies to keep public and private data safe. Along with infrastructure and cyber threat assessment improvements, cities are working to enhance protection of personal information for our cities and residents and make cybersecurity a central focus throughout the year.
