Last week: Elected officials from Broward County cities were in Washington this week, meeting members of Congress to support programs to assist local government: National Flood Insurance Program limiting costs and funding flood mapping and mitigation; three-year statute of limitations for FEMA to deobligate funds after project completion giving local governments reasonable time to respond to FEMA information requests; funding for TIGER Grants, one of the federal government’s most successful transportation funding programs; and Community Development Block Grants that help cities with housing and community development. These meetings with legislators are essential for municipal officials to advocate the needs of their residents. Read
