Looking ahead: February is Black History Month, a time when we honor the contributions and achievements of African Americans in the United States. Throughout the month our cities will celebrate the history of African Americans with events and programs that highlight a very rich and important cultural component of our history. Nationally, the theme for Black History Month this year is “African Americans in Times of War,” recognizing the significant contributions of African Americans from the Revolutionary War to the War on Terror.
