Looking Back: The mass shootings last week that took the lives of 10 individuals in a Buffalo grocery store was most heart wrenching to me because I went to college in Buffalo and roomed with Mayor Brown. All too often we focus our attention on the shooter, the motivation and access to weapons but what we don’t focus on is helping the community heal. This market served to provide the community healthy nutrition options, a source of employment and a place to hang out. While the trauma resonates, and families grieve the long-term effects can even be more devastating to a community.
