March 17 – Looking Back: During the legislative session, the Florida Inclusive Workforce Act (SB 438) was introduced in the Florida Senate. This bi-partisan bill promotes work-place equality by including protections for gender identity and sexual orientation in the Florida Civil Rights Act. Today 84% of the nation’s largest, most successful companies have adopted similar anti-discrimination policies as have many government entities. The Broward League of Cities unanimously approved Resolution 2019-01 in support of this bill as we believe that access to a safe workplace does not simply increase the efficiency and institutional health of a business or government, but is an inalienable right.
