April 7 — Looking Ahead: On April 9, 1942, Allied Forces on the Bataan Peninsula surrendered to Axis powers. This surrender began what is known as the Bataan Death March where many U.S. Soldiers and their allies were killed during transfer to prison camps. Tuesday, April 9, 2019 is National Former POW Day and honors the men and women who have been captured by enemy forces in the line of service. This week I encourage you to thank our servicemen and women for the risks they take for our country, and to remember those who have experienced trauma or capture.
