Last week: February is recognized as Black History Month or National African American History Month, and is one of the nation’s oldest organized history celebrations. Many of our cities commemorate the achievements of local black Americans and recognize the central role of African Americans with community, cultural and celebratory events honoring community members for their significant contributions to Black American history. These events allow all of us great opportunities to learn and stay engaged and connected with the rich contributions that Black History Month celebrates.
