FORT LAUDERDALE, FL. (July 9, 2026) – The Broward League of Cities proudly presented the 2026 Samuel S. Goren President’s Award to Broward County Attorney Drew Meyers during its 69th Annual Installation Dinner on Saturday, May 30, 2026, recognizing his exceptional leadership, professionalism, and longstanding dedication to strengthening local government throughout Broward County. 

“Drew represents the very best of public service,” said Broward League of Cities President Joyce L. Davis. “For over two decades, his knowledge, integrity, and commitment to helping municipalities succeed has strengthened local government across Broward County. We are honored to recognize his contributions with this year’s Samuel S. Goren President’s Award.” 

Named after the League’s General Counsel, Samuel S. Goren, the award recognizes individuals whose service has made a lasting impact on Broward County’s municipal community. 

As Broward County Attorney, Meyers regularly advises elected officials, municipal leaders, and attorneys on some of Broward County’s most complex legal and policy issues. Known for his thoughtful counsel, steady leadership, and ability to build consensus, he has earned the respect of colleagues across the county. 

Meyers joined the Broward County Attorney’s Office in 1999, serving as the County’s Chief Appellate Counsel and later as Chief Deputy County Attorney, before being appointed to the position of Broward County Attorney in 2017.  

Prior to joining the Broward County Attorney’s Office, Meyers concurrently served as Special Counsel to the State of Florida and as General Counsel to the Florida Coordinating Council for the Americans with Disabilities Act.  

This year marked the eighth consecutive year the Broward League of Cities has presented this honor to individuals whose contributions have strengthened local government throughout Broward County.
