Looking Ahead: July is a busy time of year for our 31 cities as they prepare budgets for the next Fiscal Year which runs from October 1, 2022, through September 30, 2023. During this month millage rates are established however, once set the rate can be lowered but cannot increase. Most cities hold budget workshops, but all are required to hold public hearings before adopting their final millage (property tax) rate. I encourage residents to get involved to see how their tax dollars are spent by reaching out to your elected officials attend meetings, asking questions, and or provide public input.
