“Broward League of Cities Provides Scholarships to Two Broward Students”
Two Broward County high school students were recently awarded with a $2,500 scholarship from the Broward League of Cities to pursue public service degrees.
Sabrina Rapoport, a senior at Cooper City High School, received one of the scholarships to help attend Mount Holyoke College where she will study Political Science. She holds a 3.78 GPA with over 330 hours of community service accumulated during her high school graduation.
Madison Stauffer, a student at Coral Glades High School was honored with the other scholarship due to her 3.9 GPA and dedication to community service with nearly 300 volunteer hours. Her college plans include pursuing a degree in Political Science with a minor in Public Leadership at the University of Florida.
As a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, the Broward League of Cities strives to find solutions for issues impacting local governments in the county. Since 2010, the organization has donated over $45,000 in scholarships to local students pursuing careers in public service.
“We want to support our youth who are interested in a career path of public service,” says Traci Callari, president of the Broward League of Cities. “It is so important to aid our student’s passion for change, at such a young age, and to encourage them to get involved with our municipalities. They will be the builders of our future.”
