Last week: Gun rights advocates routinely claim that guns make communities safer and support their right to carry guns anywhere and everywhere. These same individuals were forbidden from bringing firearms into the NRA Institute for Legislative Action, where Vice President Mike Pence delivered the keynote address. This prohibition of firearms in a public facility is in stark contrast to Florida law, which prevents local municipal elected officials from regulating the carrying of guns in areas like parks and community centers.
