Looking ahead: Broward municipal elected officials will be in Tallahassee Jan. 29-31 for Florida League of Cities’ Legislative Action Days. This annual trip provides important opportunities for local electeds to talk with State officials and to meet one-on-one with legislators. Cities are being challenged at an unprecedented level by legislation that strips municipalities of their ability to govern themselves. We must continue to speak in a strong, unified voice to support home rule. The premise of which allows local governments, those governments closest to the people, the freedom to make policies that suit their community’s unique needs. Read
