Looking ahead: Home Rule Authority, a constitutional right guaranteed to Florida’s 425 cities, towns and villages is under siege. Gil Ziffer, newly elected president of the Florida League of Cities, has pledged to protect home rule powers of municipalities through his initiative, “Let Cities Work.” Municipal governments throughout Florida are united to ensure that Home Rule Authority is maintained. We recognize that local government, the government closest to the people, best responds to the requests of our residents.
