Sun Sentinel 100 March 29, 2015 – April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. More than a quarter of a million people are sexually assaulted each year in the U.S. One in five women and one in 71 men have been a victim of rape in their lifetime. Many cities in Broward County provide crisis counseling, support and referrals, advocacy and education to adults and children who are victims of sexual assault. There are actions each of us can take to help end sexual violence including volunteering at a local crisis center, supporting legislation to bring sexual predators to justice, and using social media to create awareness.
