MISSION UNITED was launched by United Way of Broward County four years ago to help veterans and their families re-acclimate to civilian life. The program has helped hundreds of veterans with employment, legal aid and access to mental-health and substance-abuse treatment. It has been recognized as a national model. In June, United Way of Miami-Dade initiated MISSION UNITED to serve as a resource for the 62,000 identified veterans in Miami-Dade. Our veterans deserve and need our support.
