Members of the new Charter Review Commission convened their organizational meeting this week in anticipation of three years of hard work. They will conduct a comprehensive study and make recommendations for all phases of county government, including regional, long-term and complex issues facing Broward County in the coming decade. This is a once in every 10 year opportunity to consider updates and modifications to our charter, originally adopted in 1974. The next meeting, a retreat, will be held on October 17. The Commission will serve through the day following the 2018 general election when voters will be asked to approve the group’s recommendations. Read article.
