Each of us needs to heighten our awareness of how to avoid contracting the Zika virus. The mosquitos that spread the Zika virus bite during the day (rather than at dawn and dusk), so be sure to use an EPA-registered insect repellent after you have applied sunscreen when you are outdoors. Children should wear clothes that cover their arms and legs. At home, make certain there is no standing water in bowls, old tires or cans (mosquitos can breed even in a bottle cap of water!) and cover doors and windows with screens to keep mosquitos out.
