Last week: Congratulations to newly elected Broward County Mayor Beam Furr. Mayor Furr and the Broward League of Cities have been working on issues relating to solid waste policy. Through his efforts, Broward County has hired a consultant to conduct a Solid Waste and Recycling Issues Study, which will include recommendations regarding solid waste disposal, recycling goals, and viability of retaining public ownership of the Alpha 250 site. These are critically important issues to our communities, our quality of life and environment. We are focused on these issues and look forward to working with Mayor Furr, the county commission and county administration. Read
