The need for more affordable housing in Broward County is rapidly increasing as more than 25 percent of our residents spend half or more of their income on housing. Generating a funding stream to meet these demands requires the community at large and municipal and county governments to identify possible solutions. Currently, there is a proposal for a linkage fee to be paid by developers of not only residential structures, which is a current practice, but also on construction of commercial and retail.
